With three home runs, Rangers stop Braves’ 6-win streak

Mexico City. Andrew Knizner hit a three-run homer, Adolis Garcia added a two-run homer, and the Texas Rangers avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night.

Evan Carter also hit a home run as the reigning World Series champions erased an early 3-0 deficit and halted Atlanta’s six-game winning streak. Michael Lorenzen (2-0) rebounded from a rocky start by allowing three runs and three hits, while striking out seven in six innings.

David Robertson relieved 1 2/3 innings, Kirby Yates got four outs for his third save.

Dominican Marcell Ozuna hit his ninth home run – leading the Major Leagues – for the Braves, a three-run homer off Lorenzen in the first inning.

Atlanta rookie Darius Vines (1-1) allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings, striking out six and walking two.

For the Rangers, Cuban Adolis García went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one scored.

For the Braves, Dominican Ozuna went 1 for 3 with three RBIs and one run scored. Venezuelan Ronald Acuña Jr. 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
