With the music put into context | National …

Today is the National Musicx Day, in homage to the birth of Luis Alberto Spinetta. Its mention and music in itself mean a meeting place; For this purpose, the Committee of Musicians Collectives -which brings together different self-convened groups of the city- carries out the National Music Day 2021, whose activities began on Thursday and will conclude tomorrow, with free and free entry live shows in the Warehouse of Music (Estévez Boero 980).

“In 2020, the motto was ‘for more live music’, and the pandemic came! (laughs). The idea is to show the relevance of the meeting as well as the importance that music has had throughout this context of confinement, to vindicate and revalue the work of all the musicians and all the musicians ”, explains Vicky Durand Mansilla to Rosario/12. A member of the Colectivo de Mujeres Músicas de Rosario, Durand Mansilla adds his work to that of a joint work, together with the Civil Association of Independent Musicians, Círculo Punk, Opera and Lyric Workers, Rosario Music Workers, Open Song, Song Urgente, Independent Musicians of Rosario, Assembly of Street Art Users, Cooperativa de Músicxs Tanguerxs Rosarinxs, Lyric Workers in Rosario, Meeting of Musicians, and Rosario United Musicians.

The Musician’s Day celebrated by a

A true collective of collectives: “It is complex, we come from different spaces and we have different views, even on our work and its articulations. That implies a constant exchange and knowing how to pay attention. We are many musicians and musicians who travel this city, and in such a diverse way in terms of genres and projects. Probably, if we could ask several people what it is like to be a musician and musician, there would be a wide variety of answers. It is an attempt that we have been carrying out and here we go, in this construction ”, he adds.

In this way, the activities of this edition are organized into musical shows (see below) and a virtual panel – dedicated to legislation, gender issues, and professional development tools – that took place yesterday at the Music Day YouTube channel. “It is the beginning of a series of talks that we intend to carry out throughout the year, in order to point out that the musicians not only sing and play but we are also thinking about how to be recognized as workers, to discuss the sector problems and try to find common ground to think about some actions and regulations ”, comments the music.

-As you distinguished, the pandemic highlighted the social need we have for music.

-I think that was very clear. But also, and it is a personal opinion, it is hard work to generate that awareness, as well as to bet on local music and the artists we work with throughout the year. That is essential.

-What does the agreement with the Area of Extension and Territory of the National University of Rosario consist of?

-From an idea proposed by the Civil Association of Independent Musicians, the need arose to know how many and how many we are. Many censuses began to appear, we had a lot of data. As Colectivo de Mujeres Músicas de Rosario we join, in the confidence of having a quantitative tool that allows us to reflect, with a long-term perspective. We resort to the guarantee of the University, so that this has a seriousness that allows us to debate in a serious way about the participation of music in the local and regional cultural industry. Sometimes we assume many things but we do not have the concrete data from which to discuss public policies, for example. Or there are certain projects that we are invited to read or learn about, but not to think together. We believe that this is of vital importance and fortunately the people from the University with whom we met throughout the year were very attentive, and were happy to participate and contribute from their perspective and knowledge.

The National Music Day has been celebrated since 2016, and as Durand Mansilla says “the organizations were adding and appropriating that day. It is important that we can think of ourselves in a context, not only as musicians making music, but also from what happens to us within a community. Having been able to condense these two situations is essential for what is to come, because the future is uncertain. 2020 showed us that music through platforms is here to stay, and thinking about the new challenges –between protocols and a reduced audience- is quite a test. “

With free admission, the shows planned in the Music Warehouse are as follows. Today at 20: “Homage of the MUR to Local Rock”, with an ensemble of musicians from Oasis, La Ferroviaria, Identikit, Cinema, La Profecía, Paranoia Colectiva, Perro Suizo, Mamita Peyote. Tomorrow at 20: “Tribute to Argentine Women”, by the collective Arte y Ópera Trabajadores Independientes Rosario; and “Ensamble Mutante”, a local tango show performed by Lucía Oubiña, Ariadna Bruschini, Diego Zavalla, Javier Ramírez, Agustín Priotto, Nicolás Moro, Maia López, Joselina Casadei and Ana Paula Berardo.
