The famed Liverpool drummer remembered The Beatles singer as “one of the greats.”

Ringo Starr also responded to comments that the author of “Imagine” was frequently concerned about the quality of his voice on recordings.

“John always wanted a lot of echo in his voice. He had a great voice and when he was singing, he gave all of that. I personally don’t feel like he had insecurities about his voice. Everybody wants to be someone else, to be different.”, he pointed.

About the record that was released in 1970 and of which a collector’s edition that includes previously unreleased material and remastered versions is about to be released, Ringo said it is an “incredibly good” record.

“It is a beautiful album and he was a beautiful man and I have the privilege of feeling that he was my friend. It was great to be part of the Plastic Ono Band”, public.

The new collection celebrating the debut album of John Lennon’s solo career will consist of eight discs including raw versions of the songs already known from this production, as well as jam sessions in the studio, conversations between the musicians , demos, rarities and discarded songs.

The reissue also includes a photographic book that offers a deeper look and greater context of what this endeavor represented by one of the greatest figures in global music of the last century.

As part of the promotion of this box set supervised by Yoko Ono and her son Sean Ono Lennon, videos have been released with never-before-seen shots of the musician’s personal life.

The most recent was released last week and shows the home of John Lennon and his wife at Tittenhurst Park in Bershire, with footage that was recorded on July 16, 1971.

Another video with never-before-seen footage was released for a raw studio version of the pacifist anthem “Give Peace a Chance”, following another promo clip showing the couple in previously unreleased takes with the song “Look At Me.”

With songs like “Mother” and “Working Class Hero”, this album, which is half a century after its release, cemented the legend of John Lennon as a prolific author in his post-Beatles era.
