With a 144Hz screen, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro goes on sale

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Xiaomi began selling the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro, smartphones with screens with a 144Hz refresh rate. The advantages of this mobile screen can only be maximized through the AdaptiveSync Technology feature. What is that?

The first sale of the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro will take place on December 15 at 12.00 at JD.ID, mi.com and Mi Store starting at 12.00 with two color choices, namely Lunar Silver and Cosmic Black.

  • Xiaomi Mi 10T sells for IDR 5,999,000 (8/128)
  • Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro sells for IDR 6,999,000 (8/256)

The Mi 10T series comes with flagship class specifications such as the Snapdragon 865 chipset with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 support for RAM and storage work that results in fast performance. Another advantage of the Mi 10T series is a display with the best refresh rate in the industry for a smooth and fluid display.

To produce a display that spoils the user’s view, Xiaomi introduced AdaptiveSync Technology which can adjust the refresh rate in seven stages, namely 144Hz, 120Hz, 90Hz, 60Hz, 50Hz, 48Hz, and 30Hz. With this technology, the screen of the Mi 10T can adjust the refresh rate with the frame rate of content on the screen measured in frames per second (fps).

The solution presented by AdaptiveSync Technology is to ensure that content with a certain frame rate can be displayed at the appropriate refresh rate by the screen to make it look smooth to the user’s eyes. During this time, the unsynchronization between screens when displaying frame-by-frame images of the original content caused screen lag or jitter.

A 25 fps video will display 25 image frames in one second while a screen with a 60Hz refresh rate can display 60 frames in one second. This asynchrony causes the screen to display the same frame before moving on to the next frame so that it looks pauses and raises jitter and doesn’t look smooth.

To avoid this, the best scenario is to set the refresh rate of the screen to the same setting as the frame rate of the content or at least double. So, even though one frame is displayed twice, it is shown at the same time so that the alternation of image frames remains synchronous between the screen and the content and the jitter or lag on the screen is resolved.

Through the seven-stage AdaptiveSync Technology applied to the Mi 10T series, Xiaomi adopts various frame rate standards for various video content to achieve frame-by-frame compatibility between screen and content. This technology also has other benefits, namely making power consumption more efficient and extending battery life.

For usage scenarios like observing social media timelines, the refresh rate will go up to 144Hz, and conversely it will adjust to 50Hz if the screen doesn’t get much user interaction. In tests conducted on smartphones that were operated intensely within six hours, the AdaptiveSync Technology feature made 8% more battery remaining compared to not activating the feature.
