Microsoft has reached more than a billion active installations with Windows 10 – with a little delay. The group originally set itself the goal of reaching this number by 2018.
“Reaching a billion people with Windows 10 is just the beginning,” writes the software company. The Redmond company says they want to invest not only in the PC edition of Windows 10 in the future, but also in other versions to meet the different customer needs – the group names Windows IoT, Windows 10 Teams Edition for Surface Hub, Windows as examples Server or Windows Mixed Reality on HoloLens.
For Windows 10 there was definitely another boost due to the end of support for Windows 7 in January. Because in March 2019, the US software company still communicated 800 million active Windows 10 devices. According to the statistics portal “Statista”, Microsoft’s latest operating system had a market share of 57 percent in January. Windows 7 was just under 26 percent – and was still the second most used in the operating systems. The market shares were measured using web access.
