Windows 10, Microsoft will soon remove a very annoying feature

Although Microsoft has announced that it is working less on optional updates for Windows 10 in December, the developers are still thinking of some features that are particularly boring to fix in the future. Among these, one related to File Explorer could finally be fixed in a PowerToys update.

The problem in question is that when you want delete a file and it is open in an app the system prevents you from completing this process. By default, in fact, Windows 10 does not allow changes of any kind (delete, move or rename) on an already open file: to apply them you must first understand which program is in question, perhaps because there are background processes active without our knowledge. , close it manually and then continue.

At the moment the interim solution offered by the Redmond giant on Windows 10 is “Process Explorer”, an application designed to identify the directories of a certain program open in the system, including hidden DLL processes. However, there is a significant detail, which is that this feature is designed for power users and administrators.

However, Microsoft knows this and, for this reason, is working on a PowerToys update which will allow you to easily understand which program is using the affected file and close it manually or with Task Manager, which is also close to being replaced by a new feature always coming with the next PowerToys update.

Finally, remember that the new File Explorer should arrive in the Windows 10 21H2 update with new menus, features to improve the user experience and a decidedly elegant design.
