Real Madrid do not want to let Atletico Madrid running alone in the title race LaLiga. This was after Los Blancos won 4-1 at Granada headquarters.
In the 36th week match which was held at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, Friday (14/5/2021), Madrid took a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from Luka Modric and Rodrygo.
Granada had cut the score through Jorge Molina in the 71st minute, before Alvaro Odriozola and Karim Benzema confirmed Madrid’s victory. An additional three points gave Madrid 78 points in second place in the standings.
With two games remaining, Madrid, which are two points ahead of Atletico at the top and two points ahead of Barcelona, still have the chance to become champions. Granada is in 10th place with 45 points.
The course of the match
Atletico’s victory made Madrid inevitably have to beat Granada. There were three substitutions from the last match against Sevilla, namely Miguel Gutierrez, Marvin Park and Rodrygo.
However, Madrid is still too tough for Granada, who have been pressed since the first minute. In the 14th minute, Karim Benzema headed Rodrygo’s cross which forced Rui Silva to brush it off.
However, three minutes later, Rui Silva did not move when the net was broken by Luka Modric. Gutierrez sent a low ball towards Modric in the penalty area and the ball bounced, before being brushed with the Croatian midfielder’s right foot to the far post.

Madrid was more patient in controlling the ball and did not provide the opportunity for Granada to develop the game. In the first half injury time, Madrid doubled the score.
Marvin Park snatched the ball from the Granada players and gave a through for Rodrygo, who ran from the right and took a cut-in, before firing at Rui Silva’s goal.
Madrid winning 2-0 in the first half. Entering the second half, Granada tried to suppress the Madrid defense which was forced to play a lot in its own area.
In the 56th minute Vinicius Junior runs from the left and into the box to shoot the ball at the near post, only to be saved by Rui Silva.
In the 67th minute Granada came close to scoring a goal if Luis Suarez had not wasted a golden opportunity at the far post. Standing free when receiving his partner’s pass, Suarez’s kick went wide.
Granada managed to cut the gap to 1-2 in the 71st minute through veteran Jorge Molina. Starting with Suarez’s kick which Courtois pushed over, Molina quickly grabbed the rebound against Madrid’s goal.
However, the visitors widened the distance again four minutes later, Eden Hazard received a pass from Modric’s area on the left and immediately let go into the middle of the penalty box.
Alvaro Odriozola, who appeared from behind, quickly kicked his left foot into the top corner of Rui Silva’s goal. Madrid then increased the score to 4-1 a minute later.

This time, Rui Silva’s blunder began, which came out far from the nest to block the ball of the stomach. His sweep failed and fell at the feet of Benzema, who easily struck from distance into an empty net.
Suarez got the opportunity to score a goal in the final seconds when he made a solo run to the Madrid penalty box. However, his shot from close range was blocked by Courtois and Madrid still won 4-1.
