Willian will then return to Brazil and continue his career at Corinthians. Reportedly, the 33-year-old winger is willing to cut his salary by 70 percent to return to his old club.

Willian is one of the highest paid players at Arsenal. The former Shakhtar Donetsk player earns £240,000 per week.

“I want to thank Arsenal for the opportunity they gave me and for the warm welcome I received from everyone at the club.” Willian wrote on his social media account.

“Unfortunately on the pitch it didn’t go as we planned and hoped. I received a lot of criticism especially from some members of the media that I came here for financial reasons.”

“I hope my actions today made it clear to those people and that they now understand that this is not the case.”

“I hope this teaches some people a lesson that they shouldn’t judge and create a bad environment to make them feel important, although I accept that it’s part of the game.”

Willian has only one goal and seven assists in 37 appearances together The Gunners in all competitions. He was disappointed to leave Arsenal without giving the North London club a trophy.

“Throughout my career I have done everything to be the best that I can. I always want to win and I find it difficult to accept if I do not do that,” continued Willian.

“Unfortunately that didn’t happen at Arsenal and I’m sorry for that.”

“I came to England in 2013 and I enjoyed every minute of it. I want to thank everyone who has helped me while playing in this amazing league who is full of heart and passion.”

Before moving to Arsenal, Willian success with Chelsea. Seven years in the Blues, he scored 63 goals in 339 appearances, won the Premier League twice, won the FA Cup, Premier League Cup and Europa League.
