The wife of former Greek ambassador to Brazil Kyriakos Amiridis has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for his murder, Kathimerini reported.
In 2016, the charred remains of the diploma were found in the trunk of a burned car in Rio de Janeiro. His wife, Brazilian Françoise Sousa Oliveira, had an affair with military officer Sergio Gomez, who later admitted to killing the ambassador on her behalf. Gomez received 22 years in prison.

Another man, Eduardo Moreira Tedeschi, a relative of the officer, was acquitted of murder, but has already served a year in prison for helping to hide the ambassador’s body.
Kyriakos Amiridis, 59, served as consul in Rio de Janeiro from 2001-2004. He returned as ambassador to Brazil in 2016 when he was assassinated. Amyridis married Françoise in 2004 and they have a daughter.
Before being killed, the Greek diplomat traveled from the Brazilian capital to the city of Nova Iguazu, north of Rio,
to spend
Christmas
holidays with
his wife
and her parents. Ms Amiridis first reported that her husband had disappeared and explained to the police that he had left their apartment for no reason and rented a car.
The burning car was found the next day with the body of the diplomat inside.
Investigators found traces of blood on the couch in the couple’s apartment and it is alleged that the ambassador was killed there and then his body was moved to the car.
