Jan’s participation in the singing competition was thrown into the world last Friday with a matching press photo of the new coach on the famous red chair of The Voice. William Rutten, who took the snapshot, now shares a striking fact about the photo on Instagram. Although the photographer normally shoots the photos in his studio, Jan’s shoot took place on the water in Volendam.
‘In the middle of the holiday on a boat in the harbor of Volendam’, he writes with a photo from behind the scenes. ‘With a packed dike and harbor and then just hope that nobody sees it and nothing leaks out … Because no: this is not Photoshop, we were really there!’ Okay, except for the fish.

Jan Smit might be the new coach of The voice of Holland, that does not mean that the singer is going back to work. The Volendammer, who is recovering from a burnout, will continue to take it easy in the coming period. “I really take plenty of time to come back. I am not going to rush things and I will not suddenly give performances because I have to. I am not there yet”, Jan told the RTL Boulevard camera on Friday. He wanted to sit on the famous red swivel chairs of the talent show. “I was ready for a small step to be completely back to normal soon.”
