After the presentation of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X games, fans are more than ever excited to get their hands on the next-gen console. While we found the event a little underwhelming, the company has announced a handful of exciting titles like Fable, Stalker 2, and State of Decay 3.
And while we just received this exciting nugget of revelations, it looks like we’ll have more news soon. Xbox chief Phil Spencer hinted at yet another event in August where we’ll learn more about backward compatibility and possibly witness the long-awaited Xbox Series S reveal.
Xbox event in August
During a podcast with YouTuber iJustine and Jenna Ezarik, the topic of backward compatibility popped up and Phil claimed he intended to “talk about it next month” and that in “August we will have more to say about it ”.
The Xbox’s dedication to backward compatibility has been understood for some time, but another event in August coincides with a handful of reports that Microsoft intends to reveal the Xbox Series S during this month.
Plus, a white Xbox controller has been around the internet and many believe it’s the one the company plans to combine with the Xbox Series S.

This white controller looks like the design of the Xbox Series X controller and due to the way the shadows of the object above it naturally draw, this is probably a real photo. However, it could just be an alternate Xbox Series X controller color and not intended to launch with the Xbox Series S.
Either way, it seems more than likely at this point that the Xbox Series S is real, and since Phil Spencer is hinting at some sort of event in August, we could get the news as early as next month.
