Will the 2032 Seoul-Pyongyang Olympics collapse?: Kukje Shinmun

Foreign media reports that the host area for the 2032 Summer Olympics has been caught in Queensland, Australia. According to the report, the holding of the ‘2032 Seoul-Pyongyang Olympics’ has failed.

ABC Australia reported on the 24th that Queensland, Australia is the dominant negotiating place with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to discuss hosting the 2032 Summer Olympics. According to the broadcast, the IOC Summer Olympics Future Promotion Committee selected Queensland as the final negotiating area after examining proposals from various cities and regions wishing to host the 2032 Games. The IOC will announce the state capital, Brisbane, as the exclusive negotiating city for the 2032 Summer Olympics after an executive committee meeting within this month.

At the 134th General Assembly held in June 2019, the IOC removed the provisions that the IOC General Assembly voted to determine the next host city seven years before the Olympics from the Olympic Charter. This is because cities wishing to host the Olympics bought the votes of the IOC members with money. The host area has been expanded from the city to a wider area, and the decision stage has been simplified into two stages:’continuous dialogue’ and’target dialogue’. ‘Continuous Dialogue’ is the first step in which the host destination and the IOC freely discuss the hosting of the Olympics, and the’Goal Dialogue’ is the second step in which the IOC compresses the targets for negotiations with one or two places where the host is preferred to continue a dense discussion. According to reports, Queensland has been eligible for exclusive negotiations with the Future Promotion Committee. The 2032 Summer Olympics is the first tournament to select host sites in a new way.
