Will not be remanded in custody in Trojan Shield – NRK Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

Defendants Knut-Erik Storlykken Søvik and Tollef Skobba confirm this to NRK.

– It’s great and right. And it is great that the district court has dared to take a principled assessment of the case and address all the difficult issues, says defense attorney Tollef Skobba.

What specifically prevents him from being imprisoned?

– I can not go into that because everything is except the public than for so long. But it is worth noting is that the district court does not dance to the pipe of Interpol.

VG first mentioned the district court’s decision.

FBI material did not hold

On Tuesday, the international police operation “Trojan Shield” was made known to the world. Yesterday it was also announced that several of those arrested are from Norway.

Police Inspector Odd Skei Korstveit says there is disagreement about the evidence in Vestfold District Court.

– The court says that the information we have received from the FBI can not be used as a basis for the suspicion against the accused. And we do not agree with that, he says to NRK.

– What consequences does it have for you?

– So far no consequences. But if we have to release them, it will be a challenge for the further investigation into the case.

New decision soon

There are a total of nine arrested in several districts, Kripos told NRK on Wednesday. They do not rule out further arrests in the case.

The police have appealed the decision from Vestfold District Court. But both the two accused are kept in jail until the Court of Appeal has considered the case.

It could happen tomorrow or at the beginning of next week, but not today, Skobba believes.

– Does this mean that the evidence in the case is far too general to imprison everyone who has been arrested?

– No, that’s not how I look at it. This has been a concrete assessment in this case, but I can unfortunately not comment further on the case, says Skobba.

The press was not allowed to be present at yesterday’s prison meeting in Vestfold District Court.

Marius Dietrichson of the Norwegian Bar Association responded Wednesday that foreign police have operated an encrypted messaging channel for criminals. Kripos says their clear view is that the evidence has been legally obtained.
