Will Asche & Kollegah prevail against the Böhse Onkelz?

In the race for the new number 1 there are five newcomers. But who will be able to grab the award?

New presentations in week 4
On Friday, January 22nd, 2021, countless artists and bands released new singles and entire studio albums. Seven days later, all those want to hold a number one award in their hands and try to encourage their fans to stream on Spotify, Apple Music and Co., as well as to click videos and buy downloads and actual CDs. But who will make it in the fourth calendar week of 2021 and decide the throne of the German ranking in the albums category? We are now getting to the bottom of this question and will introduce you to the most successful newcomers in more detail.

# 1 – Ashes & Kollegah
In the official midweek charts, two tough rappers are at the top at the time of writing. Kollegah collaborated on “Natural Born Killas” with the last remaining rapper on his own label, Asche, and dropped 14 tracks, which were written by the duo themselves. In keeping with this, the latter spoken vocal artist also behind the turntables and was responsible for a large part of the production, while Fadee, Johnny Illstrument and Joznez also worked eight times. Guest contributions by other rappers are not included on the album.

# 2 – Wardruna
The Norwegian group Wardruna came in second with their fifth album “Kvitravn”. They are represented by Columbia Records and try to spread “Nordic spirituality and wisdom” in a musical way. For the first time since their LP drop in 2016, it looks like the boys and girls will be able to find themselves in the German charts again. Will they hold on to their position?

#3 – Asphyx
Asphyx, a death metal band from the Dutch town of Oldenzaal, dropped their eleventh studio album after a five-year hiatus and found themselves in third place in the German midweek charts with “Necroceros”. If the group, which was founded in 1987 by drummer Bob Bagchus and guitarist Tony Brookhuis, could keep its place, they would have something to celebrate: Asphyx has never before made it into the top 20 in Germany.

#4 – Bring Me The Horizon
After the guys from Bring Me The Horizon took third place in the German charts with their sixth studio album “Amo” in January 2019 and rocked the MainStage at Rock am Ring in the summer, they released a new EP. “Post Human: Survival Horror” was presented on October 30, 2020 and has now reached fans in Germany. Thanks to millions of streams, the members of the British metalcore band were able to find themselves in position number four in the fourth calendar week and make up for their position 52 from last year.

# 5 – Böhse Onkelz
The German rock band Böhsen Onklez from Frankfurt am Main celebrated a re-release of their eleventh studio album “EINS”, released on October 23, 1996, in early 2021 and will make it into the charts again. While the work entered number 52 at the time and won position number 4 a week later, this year the artists around singer Kevin Russell will be behind rappers Asche & Kollegah and groups such as Wardruna, Asphyx and Bring Me The Horizon must arrive. Or can the Onkelz get their fans to catapult “EINS” to the top of the German list within a day?

We are excited!
