Wilders continues with Mohammed cartoon competition

PVV leader Wilders continues with his cartoon competition about the prophet Mohammed. Almost a year and a half ago, the politician also took the initiative for such a cartoon competition, but later canceled it after threats.

In Pakistan and Afghanistan in particular, the competition was furious; mocking and portraying the prophet is seen as an unacceptable provocation in the Islamic world. There was fierce demonstration in Pakistan and Wilders received various death threats.

Last month, a man who threatened to attack Wilders because of the cartoon competition 10 years in prison. Also the man who stabbed people last year at Amsterdam Central train station, Jawed S., said that Wilders had insulted him with the Mohammed cartoon competition.

The PVV politician also cites the Pakistani preacher Rizvi on Twitter, who, according to Wilders, has declared a fatwa about him. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service wanted to interrogate the man for incitement and threats and asked the Pakistani authorities in June to assist with this. Wilders notes that Pakistan has not arrested the clergyman. “Freedom of expression must go beyond violence and Islamic fatwas,” writes Wilders.
