Riot Games, developer and publisher of League of Legends: Wild Rift, announces the start of the first official Wild Rift esports season.
Wild Rift will become part of Riot Games’ esports competitive ecosystem during the 2022 season livestream.
for League of Legends: Wild Rift officially starts the e-sports journey today. With the announcement of eight regional leagues, the first official competition season begins. The regions form the basis for the global e-sports competition structure of Wild Rift and come up with their very own accents and special features for the sport.
At the same time, Wild Rift announces the first official world championship, the Wild Rift Icons Global Championshipthat will take place in Europe this summer. Wild Rift Icons will come up with top-class games and choose the Wild Rift World Champion.
24 teams take part in the tournament. Eight teams qualify directly from the regional competitions and 16 more fight for their places in the preliminary round phase. After the preliminary round, the group phase of the main tournament follows, followed by a knockout phase. In the grand finale at the end, the master of the masters will be chosen.
