New Delhi: When Amarinder Singh joined the BJP with the party he formed when he left Congress a year ago, the question arose as to why his wife Praneet Kaur didn’t join. Congressman Praneet Amarinder did not even follow him when he left the party. When asked about this, Amarinder’s response was as follows: “Whatever her husband does, her wife need not follow her.”
Praneet Kaur was Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the government of Manmohan Singh from 2009-2014. He is currently a deputy of Patiala. Congress has not asked them to resign nor have they expressed a willingness to resign. A senior BJP leader was quoted in the national media as saying that if he resigns, the AAP will also take that seat.
Meanwhile, Margaret Alva, who was the opposition presidential candidate, tweeted that Praneet Kaur is smarter than the captain. Along with Amarinder, her son Raninder Singh, daughter Jai Inder Kaur and grandson Nirwan Singh also joined the BJP.
