ShowbizBas van Toor (87), although his health is deteriorating, still jokes. This is what his wife Coby van Toor says in response to the update that his brother Adriaan van Toor (80) gave yesterday.
“There are good days and bad days, but we keep our spirits up with his own text: ‘No matter what happens, always keep smiling’. And that’s what we’re trying to do. “He has always had a positive attitude to life, but don’t forget, he will be 88, isn’t it,” said Coby van Toor, Bas’s wife, in a response to the Dutch ‘AD’.
Bed in the living room
“Bas’s bed is in the living room, so that he is still there. “I can lie alone long enough,” he joked. He’s not going to die just yet. It’s great that we get a lot of feedback. Bas reads all the cards we get.”
Aad, who formed the bassie & Adriaan duo with his brother for decades, told ‘RTL Boulevard’ on Wednesday and in October against the AD that ‘Bas’ can only move his right hand. “To control the TV with the remote control. For the rest, he needs help with everything.” And Aad himself also occasionally suffers from a few ailments. He is “reminded every day of his acrobatic existence” when he gets out of bed. “My knees are worn out, my neck, my back and last year I had to have surgery because of clogged veins in my leg. But hey, you can complain about that, but what’s the point of doing this?”
Bas and Coby celebrated their diamond wedding in May last year. The feast was celebrated in an intimate circle.
