Why the Martins from Gerbrunn are closing the hedgehog station after 31 years

The temperatures are rising. Spring is coming. The first hedgehogs wake up from hibernation. For Gudrun and Herbert Martin from Gerbrunn in the district of Wrzburg, this has meant one thing above all for 31 years: a lot of work. Up to 300 needy, injured or orphaned hedgehogs are brought to them every year. The Martins are often the first point of contact for hedgehog friends from all over Lower Franconia and beyond. In fact, it was you. Because the hedgehog sanctuary in Gerbrunn will remain closed with immediate effect. The Martins are retiring. “For health reasons,” says Gudrun Martin.
