FOOD – The magnitude of the recall is rather rare. Last weekend, several tons of minced meat and steaks were urgently recalled from several major brands. In question, the possible presence of metallic filament.

All the products called to be brought back to the store have the distinction of coming from the manufacturer Elivia.

Near 20Minutes, the company explained that its production line had been the victim of an accident at its factory in Vitry-le-François in the Marne. “The internal control of the factory revealed an anomaly: a belt of one of the carpets was found to be damaged”, explains the spokesperson for Olivia. The part was replaced but that did not completely exclude the potential presence of metallic filaments, about “two centimeters” and “no thicker than a hair”, she added.

A metal detector is well installed before the products are finished, but it has found nothing abnormal. For this, the spokesperson for Olivia puts forward two tracks, either the filaments were too small, or there was no contamination of the meat.

The company, which is one of the market leaders, has also launched a toll-free number for consumers: 0 800 945 235. The brand ensures that no customers have yet come forward.
