On June 9, 2020, we received the sad news of the death of singer Pau Donés, a victim of colon cancer that he suffered since 2015. The news surprised the whole world because two weeks ago he had released what was the first “single” of his latest CD: “What you give me”.
The song was surely a message of thanks and a farewell at the same time to say goodbye to the world remembering his great passion: music. It is what we can subtract from some verses of her work:

His latest album “Tragas o escupes” became his obsession
As El Confidencial reports, Pau Donés had to hurry to record his album because he already knew that he had only a few days to live. It was the last gift he wanted to leave the world before leaving. This was explained by Enrique Bunbury on his Twitter account:
“He called me to ask me for a bass. I handed him my Fender Jazz Bass, with which he recorded all the demos from his album ‘Tragas o escupes’. When he called me to stop by his house and listen to the finished songs, he announced that he was going back to Spain for a review. I had a bad feeling ”
More concise was Dani Baraldés, the guitarist for his latest album. Donés informed him that they had to work piece by piece to be able to leave everything settled before his death. Speaking to “El Universal”Baraldés explained:
“Finally I went to record and he was on morphine, he was physically very delicate, he was very screwed and it was a little hard because of course, you are making music a little against the clock and seeing a friend, a companion how little by little it is fading away ”
“He was already on the final stretch, of course, he was very bad but he took advantage until the last minute, the last second, he was squeezing everything. When he came it was full, with joy, you saw that his body was deteriorated, but in spirit and you win as always an authentic cyclone, “he stressed.

The album has very beautiful songs, such as “Los angeles dress in white”, a tribute by Donés to the health workers especially during this time of coronavirus and for all the work they had done helping him during his illness:

But if we have to stay with a song, due to its emotionality, we highlight “Hombrecitos” Beneath a joyous melody, a final farewell message is hidden. Not in his final moments, Pau Donés abandoned optimism:
