When we went to school, we were taught that Pluto is the ninth most extreme planet in our solar system. Happy 76 years, since it was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930. Pluto is indeed considered a planet whose orbit around the sun is farther than Neptune.
Pluto is one of hundreds of thousands of icy asteroids, objects in the Kuiper Belt. Meanwhile, in the 90’s, there were no other objects in the Kuiper Belt after Pluto. So naturally, Pluto, which is known as the only space object that is far from Neptune, is then called a planet.
