Why isn’t Julión Álvarez’s music available on Spotify or YouTube?

Since August 2017, the singer’s work Julion Alvarez was canceled on two of the most popular digital platforms: Spotify and YouTube; as both sites downloaded the content of their respective official accounts due to an investigation involving the artist.

The United States Department of the Treasury opened an investigation folder that relates the interpreter to drug trafficking, since on August 9 of that year a sanction was issued for participating in alleged illicit acts.

The exponent of the regional genre is pointed out for alleged money laundering, since the Office for the Control of Foreign Assets (OFAC) He accused him of being the founder of a network of prestanombres to carry out operations with funds from the sale of drugs.

The authorities relate to Alvarez with criminal groups in Mexico such as Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel; However, the famous man denied the accusations against him even when he agreed to meet Raúl Flores Hernández, one of the most important drug traffickers in the country.

According to his statement, the relationship he had with the drug trafficker was limited to contract deals in a Guadalajara bar called ‘La Camelia’.

“I don’t have the need, thank God, to have partners, I don’t have partnerships”stated the artist.

Almost four years after his work was canceled in the music services, Julion Alvarez was nominated for the first time for the Premio Lo Nuestro 2021, an event held by the Univision network that each year recognizes the best of Latin music.

The ceremony will take place on February 18 in Miami, Florida. The singer is nominated in the category “Regional Mexican Northern Song of the Year” for the song ‘I remember you more’.
