the first mobile blood drive of the year is a huge success

“The Vosges are generous… and early morning! », Laughs Maryse Morel, head of collection in Nancy. This Tuesday, January 12, the first mobile blood drive of 2021 took place at the Cours d’Épinal space. The donors were on the war footing from 9 am until 7:30 pm And it is not the snow that will have discouraged them.

The two establishments in the Vosges, namely Saint-Dié and Épinal, are closed. They allowed, between them, to obtain between 3,000 and 4,000 donations per year.

The Vosges above the average

The donors spread the word on Tuesday. “The Vosges are above the national average of 4% for people of age to give,” says Maryse Morel. For Charlène, this is not a first! The 23-year-old wants above all to “make a good gesture” and no doubt that she will return with pleasure to extend her arm to have her removed.

The curfew enacted at 6 p.m. will have all the same put a brake, at the beginning of its introduction, to this craze. Yet people are allowed to break the curfew to donate blood. “All they need to do is complete a certificate by checking the box“ travel to assist vulnerable people ”. And if they don’t have a certificate, we can provide them with one, ”says the direct debit manager.

Donations of pure and hard plasma can only be collected from EFS Nancy, as they require technical means not available on a mobile collection. Nevertheless, “we still participate in the self-sufficiency of plasma, since we can extract it from the blood,” said the specialist.

“We can only be reassured”

For the Association of blood donors in Épinal, which organizes snacks at each blood drive, this is a real relief. “We can only be reassured. When we were told that the EFS d’Épinal was going to close, we didn’t know what was going to happen next. Mobile collections will greatly increase. For us, it’s huge, says Jacky Millot, president of the association. We go from eighteen collections per year in the Epinal sector, to nearly forty. And it’s always a pleasure to be approached. The next mobile collection will be held on Tuesday February 9, from 9 am to 7:30 pm, at the Cours area.
