Despite a complicated start to the match for OL, the Lyonnais finally won at home against Dijon FCO in the second day of the Ligue 1 football championship on Friday 28 August.

This 2020-2021 school year is not the easiest for the DFCO. The Dijon Ligue 1 club had already lost at home against Angers on August 22 (1-0).
This time, the Burgundians suffered a heavy defeat against Olympique Lyonnais.
However, everything started well for Stephane Jobard’s men, who scored in the 14th minute, thanks to Aurélien Scheidler, whose first goal in Ligue 1 for his second tenure.
But, the step was too high against a club which had just played a semi-final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich a few days ago.
Result: the Lyonnais gradually regained control of the ball, thanks to striker Memphis Depay who scored three goals and an unfortunate goal from Dijon central defender Wesley Lautoa who scored against his camp.
At the end of the match, OL largely won 4 to 1.

“There is nothing wrong with the score”
“There is a form of logic in the result, because there are two classes of difference between the two teams“, sums up the DFCO coach.
“We scored pretty quickly, but we lost our balls too quickly and we took waves endlessly. We struggled to resolve this problem on the left side of OL and Maxwel Cornet who centered in far too favorable conditions. Our defense broke in six minutes. My right-back has had very little experience in Ligue 1 and he faced a Champions League player. There is nothing to say about the score, “admits Stéphane Jobard.
“I hope new players will arrive, especially offensive elements, and that we will recover injured people like Baldé to build a high-performance team. We have young players who are new to the level and who have qualities. It is not uninteresting, but it was too poor on the use of the ball and too fragile defensively to rely on it, “concludes the DFCO coach.
The good news for Stephane Jobard is 15 days to work, with the new recruits and those who will arrive very soon, the @DFCO_Officiel will have a whole new face in 15 days.

A l’issue du match, Dijon is in 19th and penultimate place in the Ligue 1 standings while Lyon prances at the top of the table.
The Dijonnais will dispute their next match at Gaston-Gérard stadium on Sunday September 13, at 15h. They will receive the Stade Brestois, the red lantern of the championship. The perfect opportunity to earn precious points.
