“Babies with diabetic mothers are older because they get a lot of sugar from their mothers,” said Deputy Health Minister Dante.

This sugar intake flows through the placental tract and without realizing it makes the baby bigger than normal.

“The sugar had entered through the placenta, or through the placenta, into the baby, so it grew larger than its normal size,” he continued.

Also, Deputy Health Minister Dante said if the baby’s size was greater due to excess sugar. Eventually, it can lead to the mother having to initiate labor through a caesarean section.

Therefore, she appealed to pregnant women to be disciplined in maintaining a healthy diet, aiming to avoid excess sugar during pregnancy and childbirth.

“Controlled blood sugar during pregnancy or gestational diabetes in pregnant women due to the large size of the baby have to do a caesarean section,” she explained.
