Organized by UEFA The League of Nations replaced friendly matches on the calendar. The first edition took place in 2018, and Portugal turned out to be the winner, defeating the Netherlands in the final. The current world champions triumphed in the second edition, beating 2: 1 Spain.

Poland’s national team in the League of Nations 2022/23
In the first season of the competition, the white-and-reds took third place in the group in the highest division, giving way to Portugal and Italy. Initially, it was supposed to mean a drop to a lower division, but as a result of regulatory changes and the expansion of the groups to four teams, Poles remained in the highest division.
In the second edition of the League of Nations Polish representation it faced Italy again, as well as the Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two victories over the Balkan rival and a draw with later European champions kept the Poles in the top division, as well as 10th place in the final classification.
Division into baskets – League of Nations 2022/23
This meant that in the draw for the next edition of the competition (December 16 in Montreux), Poles will be placed in the third basket of division A. It is already known that cadre Paulo Sousy will not play against England, Switzerland and Croatia in the same basket.
The first basket is reserved for the top four representations of the last edition, i.e France, Spain, Italy and Belgium. The second basket will include Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark. Austria, the Czech Republic, Wales and Hungary were promoted to the highest division, replacing Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sweden, Ukraine and Iceland.

The first and second rounds of the third edition League of Nations are scheduled for June 2-8, 2022. On June 8-14, the third and fourth rounds will take place, while the fifth and sixth ones will take place on September 22-27. The semi-finals are scheduled on June 14-15, 2023, and the match for third place and the final on June 18, 2023.
