JAKARTA – WorldHealth Organization Chief Scientist (WHO), Dr. Soumya Swaminathan reminded about mixing and matching two different types of Covid-19 vaccines for the first and second doses.
Soumya described the move as a ‘dangerous trend’ and stressed that there was not enough data on the impact of the process.
“This move is a bit dangerous. We are currently in a data-free zone and with no evidence of mixing and matching processes,” he said in an online briefing as reported by the Hindustan Times.
According to Soumya, currently several studies have been carried out on the mix and match of different vaccines, so he asked all parties to wait for the results.
“The data on the process and studies are still limited, so we have to wait for the results.
“The situation could be chaotic if the relevant parties start to decide when and who will receive second dose, third and fourth, “he said.
