WHO experts travel to Wuhan

A group of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited Wuhan on January 21 and 22 to inspect the work related to the epidemic of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), according to the National Health Commission (CNS).

Scientists have examined the body temperature of travelers departing abroad at Wuhan airport and customs, where pneumonia was first reported, CNS said.

They also inspected the entire screening, quarantine and treatment process for patients with fever at a local hospital, and visited the laboratory of the Hubei Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Experts from China and the West have discussed the infectivity of the virus, these serious cases detected and the source of the infection. They agreed that there is a person-to-person transmission of the virus and that medical personnel have been infected.

The organization thanked the authorities in Wuhan “To have voluntarily communicated information about the epidemic and to have shared the genome sequence of the virus, and to be ready to share more future prevention, control and treatment plans”, relayed the Xinhua news agency.

The World Health Organization has assured that it will continue to strengthen cooperation with China and provide appropriate technical support.
