Who deserves to enter the Supernova semi-finals? Vote for your favorite! / Script

“SUPERNOVA 2022” – who will be the seventeenth semi-finalist?

A jury set up by LTV to participate in the semi-finals of “Supernova 2022” has already selected 16 members. The next 10 best songs and participants selected by the jury have been put to the vote of the audience. Only the one who will receive the most public support will join the other semi-finalists and perform live on the competition on 5 February.

Singer and songwriter Antra Stafeck gained her recognition by participating in the TV reality show “Okarte Skatuve 2”. Antra Stafeck sings in the group “The Other Side”, with which she has released several singles – “Draw Me”, “I Will You”, “Together”, “In Your Hands”. The musician has released two solo albums – in 2015 “Lonely Star”, in 2019 in collaboration with producer Jānis Čubars – “26 and Everything”. Antra Stafecka has participated in the national selections of the Eurovision Song Contest three times.

Singer, musician, composer and music producer Atis Ieviņš has been working in the field of music for more than 15 years. He has been the vocalist of the Latvian hard rock group “Colt”, participated in TV shows and musicals. He is currently actively involved in various musical projects as a soloist.

2. Darta Stepanova’s “Wonderland” (music – Valters Pūce, lyrics – Patricia Ksenija Cuprijanoviča)

Darta Stepanova has participated in vocal competitions, concert performances and programs since childhood. In 2012, her sung album “Dārta dzied. Mottled Parrot Songs” was released, which received the “Golden Microphone” award for the best record of children’s songs. In 2017, the music video for the song “Dark Night, Green Hall” performed by the musician was released, in 2019 – the music video for the song “Pulse Speed” by Darta Stepanova and singer Laura Valters. In 2021, two singles were released: “Go Next” with the group “Dagamba” and “Wonderland”.

3. Edvards Strazdiņš “Open Road” (music and lyrics – Edvards Strazdiņš, Kerija Hauptmane)

Nineteen-year-old singer and songwriter Edvards Strazdiņš started his musical career in 2013, when, while studying in the 3rd grade, he founded a musical duo with a friend. It was active in the school environment until the graduation of primary school. He later started playing Christian songs with his father at a local church, and they also wrote Christian songs together. The year 2021 has been the most active in the field of music so far – in cooperation with the producer Gints Stankevičs, four songs have been recorded and released in the professional studio, the best known of which are “Song about Kurzeme” and “Garden”.

4. Katrīna Dimanta “My Voice” (music and lyrics – Katrīna Dimanta, Reinis Briģis)

Katrīna Dimanta has played in the groups “All folked up”, “Sisters Dimantas Sisters” and “Imanta Dimanta un draugi”, “NuFolk Global connections”, “Ducele”, sang in a duet with Lauri Valters, created and performed music for dance festivals, concert performances, games, etc. events. She has participated in the international Eurovision Song Contest with the group “Aarzemnieki”. He started his solo career in 2019, releasing the single “Pepper” and participating in the “Supernova 2020” competition with the English version of the song “Heart Beats”. Katrīna Dimanta has also released the single “Tu look at me” and plans to release her first studio solo album “Colors” soon.

5. Marta Ritova’s “Let Me Go” (music – Marta Ritova and Armands Varslavāns, lyrics – Marta Ritova)

Singer and songwriter Marta Ritova has returned to the Latvian music scene after a couple of years of creative work, releasing the song together with rapper Ozola. He has previously released three solo albums, participated in the 2013 Eurovision national selection final, where he won 3rd place, and also participated in the 2016 “Supernova” superfinal. In 2014 and 2015, she was among the finalists of the “Music Bank”.

6. Mārtiņš Strods “One More Time” (music – Mārtiņš Strods, lyrics – Mārtiņš Strods, Evija Smagare)

Singer and songwriter Mārtiņš Strods plans to release his first solo album this year. Until now, he has participated in TV shows and vocal competitions, as well as given concerts and performs at festivals. He plays in the group “Baritones”, which became part of the “X Factor” finals. He has won the show “Choir Wars 3” as a member of the Rezekne Green Hills Choir, and has been a soloist in the show “Our Best Songs”. Ghetto Factor and Slavyansk Bazaar have also taken part.

7. Miks Galvanovskis “I’m Just A Sinner” (music and lyrics – Miks Galvanovskis, Reinis Briģis)

Mick Galvanovsky has been a soloist in the band “No Other Tomorrow”. In 2016 he started a solo career, participated in “Supernova 2017”. Miks Galvanovskis is the creator of the project “Association of Young Musicians”, in 2018 he released his debut album “In Pieces”, in 2019 in collaboration with producer Reini Briģi – a small album “No 2-5”. The musician also plans to release an album this year.

8. Rihards Bērziņš “1 + 1” (music and lyrics – Rihards Bērziņš)

Rihards Bērziņš has been writing and performing music since the age of 14. Music is an integral part of his life, he believes that “one moment in life is three minutes in music”. In recent years, he has been actively collaborating with musician Arstarulsmirus, recording his third album together. The musician also plays cover in the group “Countryside”.

9. “Dad” “The Best Words” (music and lyrics – Nauris Brikmanis, Valters Osis)

Musicians Nauris Brikmanis, Valters Osis, Didzis Bardo and Valters Pūce have joined the group “Dad”, all of whom are dads.

10. Toms Kalderauskis “Naked Smile” (music and lyrics – Liene Stūrmane, Kaspars Ansons, Toms Kalderauskis)

Toms Kalderauskis released the single “We Won’t Back Down” in 2017 and participated in the competition “Supernova 2017”. This year he also released the single “No Place”, in 2018 – “Ja allowing”, in 2019 – “Misery”. With the single “Be My Truth”, the musician entered the competition “Supernova 2020”. Toms Kalderauskis has participated in various musical performances, the single “Floods” has been created in a duet with Rūta Dūdums-Ķirs. She sang the title song of the series “Stay Negative” “Stay negative, my love”, as well as the Latvian dubbing of the title song for the cartoon “Ķepu patruļa”.

You can vote for favorites every 24 hours by logging in with your social media profile. LTV will announce the winner of the vote on January 15.

“Supernova 2022” semi-final – February 5 at 21.05 LTV1 and REplay.lv, final – February 12.

The aim of the competition “Supernova 2022” is to find a piece by a brilliant artist and popular music who will represent Latvia in the large-scale Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy (semi-finals will take place on May 10 and 12, final – on May 14).
