White smoke: Proximus will broadcast the Belgian football championship well, without price increase!

It will have taken a long time to point the nose, but here it is closed: the agreement between Eleven Sports and the operator Proximus, historic broadcaster of the Belgian football championship, fell.

As a reminder, Eleven won, for a record amount of 105 million euros, the broadcasting rights of the Jupiler Pro League, and this for the next five seasons.

The good news for Proximus TV customers is that this new agreement will not mean a price increase for them. The All Sports package, sold at € 16.99 per month and which gives access to foreign football, Champions League matches and the Jupiler Pro League, will not be subject to “elevated inflation”, we are confirmed. -we. A scenario that was to be feared, given the increase in the amount paid by the new rights holder.

Proximus therefore joins Orange Belgium in the area of Belgian football broadcasting operators for the next five years. It remains to be seen whether an agreement can also be reached with the cable operators Voo and Telenet, with whom negotiations remain tough. Eleven’s approach remains invariably the same: multiply the distribution points and the agreements with the Telco companies, in order to that no Belgian football fan has to change operators to follow their favorite club.

As a reminder, the KBC / CBC bank-insurer has also, to everyone’s surprise, acquired images from our Belgian football (“near-live-clips”), which the bank intends to broadcast via its app banking. All the details about this new deal are to be read here.
