WASHINGTON White House reportedly ordered Pentagon to postpone the trial hypersonic missile last June. However, the trial had been planned for a long time.

The White House asked for the trial to be canceled less than a week before the President United States of America (AS) Joe Biden meet the president Russia Vladimir Putin in Switzerland. The White House said it did not want to escalate tensions with Moscow.

According to three sources, including a defense official and a senior congressional aide, the White House contacted the Secretary of Defense’s office to request that the test be postponed. Biden was preparing for tough discussions with his Russian counterpart, and officials feared that launching such a provocative weapon just before the meeting could send the wrong signal or sabotage the meeting altogether.

“However, Russia also did not do anything provocative before the meeting. This is not at all unusual for the sake of preparation for the meeting,” the US defense official noted. Politico, Friday (10/29/2021).

The sources did not provide an explanation of who the White House official gave the order or who in the US Department of Defense received it.

But Politico’s report was denied by the White House. A spokesman for the US presidential palace said the Politico report was inaccurate. The Pentagon declined to comment.

Recently, the Pentagon announced that their latest hypersonic missile test ended in failure. It was triggered by the booster, which is a rocket used to accelerate projectiles to hypersonic speeds, failed to operate and tests of the projectile, the hypersonic launch body, could not proceed.
