This is one of the big questions in the starting XI of PSG against Manchester City on Wednesday night in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League. While the tenure of Marquinhos and Mbappé are not yet certain, the question of who will evolve at the position of left side also arises. And as explained RMC Sport, it seems that three men are vying for the place, with Abdou Diallo, Layvin Kurzawa and Mitchel Bakker who should be in competition to start against the Cityzens.
Bernat still absent
This left-back position has been a real headache since the start of the season and the terrible injury of Juan Bernat, holder of the position. Absent for many months, Bernat leaves PSG orphaned in this position, while he has performed well since his arrival in the capital. And Wednesday, Mauricio Pochettino will once again have to decide between Diallo, Kurzawa and Bakker. The first named could leave with a head start, given that he held the position in the double quarterfinal clash against Bayern Munich. But he hasn’t played since the return leg against the Bavarians and could therefore be fair.
Then would come the option Layvin Kurzawa, not always serene in his performances, but who could deliver a big match against the English. However, he was not transcendent this weekend against Metz, during the hour he spent on the lawn of Saint-Symphorien and may have lost points in the eyes of the Argentine coach. Finally, Bakker has played very little since arriving on the bench from Pochettino, but on Wednesday he could be one of the surprises of the Parisian starting lineup. His inexperience at the European high level for a match of such importance could however serve him. No doubt, the suspense promises to be great until Wednesday evening to know who will be the left side of PSG
