Freddy Sambo surprised to find there is CCTV footage showing Brigadier Joshua Hutabarat he was still alive when Sambo arrived at his official residence. This was because Sambo had fabricated a story that he had arrived when Joshua had already been killed in a shootout with Bharada Richard Eliezer.
This was revealed by Sambo when he became a witness in the CCTV tampering case trial which led to delays in Yosua’s murder investigation. The defendant in this case is Chuck Putranto.
The prosecutor initially asked how Chuck was able to check the CCTV DVR of Duren Tiga’s police compound after the incident with Yosua’s shooting occurred. Sambo also admitted that he didn’t know.
“I don’t know. What is clear is that on 11th (July) I asked him to copy and see the contents,” Ferdy Sambo said in the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (22/12/2022).
Sambo admits that he only ordered Chuck to copy the CCTV footage and view its contents. Sambo also admitted that he didn’t expect the CCTV footage to disrupt the shooting scenario he had concocted.
“I didn’t focus on CCTV because I didn’t think CCTV would spoil the story I was building. Because on 13th (July) Arif (former Deputy Head of Paminal AKBP Arif) said, ‘This is Yosua who was still there when he was entered my brother’, said Sambo.
He said this was broadcast by Arif on the evening of July 13 in his office. Sambo admitted he was surprised.
“He said ‘The story in the press release doesn’t match the CCTV footage.’ Then I was shocked,” he said.
“On the 13th (July) Arif Rachman reported, didn’t he?” asked the prosecutor.
“I was shocked and panicked to see the condition of Arif Rachman’s report,” Sambo said.
“Surprised by what?” the prosecutor asked again.
“I was surprised because even though I didn’t see him directly at the time, when I entered Duren Tiga’s house, it turned out that Joshua was still alive,” Sambo said.
