When will Egy Maulana Vikri appear in the AFF Cup?

Coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae Yong made sure A Maulana Vikri will not appear in the opponent’s match Malaysia and only have the opportunity to compete if the Garuda Squad advances to the semifinals AFF Cup.

Shin Tae Yong has not been able to play all the potential that is in his squad due to several obstacles. One of them is Egy Maulana Vikri who still has to defend FK Senica in the Slovak League.

“Egy might be able to play if we qualify from the group stage,” said Shin Tae Yong in a press conference session.

Because the AFF Cup is not included in the official FIFA calendar, clubs have no obligation to immediately release players to the national team. This December, FK Senica has three important matches against Liptovsky Mikulas (4/12), Pohroni (11/12), and Trencin (18/12).

After the duel against Trencin, then the Slovak League entered the mid-season holiday so that Egy Maulana Vikri could join the AFF Cup squad.

In early December, there was news that Egy might be able to join the Indonesian national team sooner. PSSI said that there had been talks with FK Senica so that Egy could return home sooner.

However, until the group phase was almost over, the plan for Egy’s presence remained the same as the original plan, namely after the group phase was over.

The Indonesian national team will face Malaysia in the last match of the AFF Cup, Sunday (19/12). In this match, the Garuda Squad only needed a draw to qualify for the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Malaysia needs a win to qualify for the top four.

The Indonesian national team is currently at the top of the standings with a value of seven points, ahead on goal difference over Vietnam in second place. Malaysia is in third position with six points.

In the last match, Vietnam will duel against Cambodia, which has definitely been eliminated from this event.
