BUSINESS. Innovative, Cascades once again marks the imagination of its future employees as tomorrow will be held in the parking lot of the Granby plant, a drive-thru career day. Not far from the idea of being able to obtain any kind of drinks and food, those interested will be able to participate in a recruitment day in the comfort of their car.
The good weather of the last few days and the arrival of deconfinement mark the gradual resumption of face-to-face recruitment activities for the paper company specializing, among others, in the recovery and packaging of paper and cardboard. Although health guidelines are still established in the region, the human resources and marketing team has developed an original and safe concept in order to attract people looking for work. Drive-in interviews have been in the works for a few months now at the Berthierville and Victoriaville factories. In addition to Granby, the selection of candidates for the car will take place in Drummondville on June 20 and 21. From 2 p.m., young and old workers are invited to go directly to the parking lot of the industrial boulevard in Granby to try to find their place within the company. A small victory for the organizers of this event who will be able to welcome their future employees face-to-face after more than a year of waiting. “Over the past year, we’ve tried a lot of virtual recruiting events. For us, it was less conclusive, because the human side was missing. So we went to find what we were missing, ”says Jessica Gervais, Events Coordinator at Cascades.
In the same vein, the human resources department looks forward to being able to meet people in person to promote the company to its full potential. “Our strength at Cascades is that our brand is recognized across the province. Unfortunately in the virtual world, we are losing the essence of making our employer shine, ”adds Jessy Blanchette, human resources marketing advisor at Cascades.
At the time of the event, the employees of some departments will welcome the cars in the various stations provided for this purpose. Motorists will be able, the same day, to speak with recruiters during individual interviews and to elaborate on employment prospects while respecting the established health measures. A few positions remain to be filled within the team, particularly at the level of manufacturing operators and electromechanics.
Constantly innovating
Clearly, the labor shortage will have affected virtually all sectors of activity, including manufacturing. Not spared by this crisis, Cascades is constantly evolving in order to be an employer of choice for workers. Earlier this year, the company launched the program Career path aimed at supporting employees in their prospect of advancement within the company. “We want to help employees, according to their development and their objective, to thrive with us. Cascades is attentive to the needs of its employees and we will offer training to reach the desired positions, ”explains Jessy Blanchette.
For some time now, the marketing and human resources departments have been working together to promote the values of the company in the various campaigns. In addition to so-called traditional advertising strategies, Cascades also displays its colors on social networks to attract crowds. “We work to run creative campaigns like on the platform TikTok for example. We have to seek both the next generation and the people of another generation. We want to create a mix in our campaigns to help us reach as many people as possible, ”says Jessica Gervais.
