Mineduc’s “I learn online” will keep its free access from mobile devices

A little over a year after the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) implemented it so as not to interrupt the continuity of classes, the portal “Aprendo en Línea” received significant support from the technology industry that will allow it to maintain its free access in 2021 from mobile devices, such as cell phones, smartphones and tablets.

This was possible thanks to the negotiations between the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT), through the Subsecretariat of Telecommunications, the Mineduc and the mobile telephone companies Entel, Claro, GTD, Mundo, Movistar and VTR, members of the Mobile Telephony Association (Atelmo), and also WOM. In a meeting held with the companies present, they reiterated their commitment to the education sector and highlighted other efforts they carry out, such as plans tailored to the needs of educational institutions, which will also be maintained during 2021.

This agreement between the private and public world allows teachers, students and parents to consult “I learn online” from this Monday, March 30, completely free of charge, since access does not discount mobile data from postpaid user plans nor does it register balance for prepaid mobile broadband users. To date, the portal has more than 19 million visits, which has made it the most popular website in the country in the area of education.

“In addition to caring for the health of all Chileans, among the main concerns of the Government in the face of the health contingency is that students continue with their educational process. The platform ‘I learn online‘, which was updated in 2021 and today has more and renewed pedagogical resources, has played a very important role in not interrupting learning. We thank the companies for their support so that the site can be used without charges by students and their teachers, ”said the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa.

“Aprendo en Línea” has more than 80,000 digital pedagogical resources for students, parents, teachers and managers, aligned with the current curriculum and is always constantly updated. Among these, the Digital School Library stands out, which has 13 thousand copies to which 2 thousand more will be added this year, and which only in March is making 4 thousand daily loans. The platform is aimed at all Pre-Kindergarten students in the country to 4th medium. In its year of operation, it registers 10,177,897 users and its daily average reaches 73,928 users. Only in the last week had 539,351 total downloads of educational resources. With this agreement, in addition to Aprendo en Línea, access to the School Digital Library.
