The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council warned that the next two to three months of heavy fighting will be decisive in the war.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that Russia prepares for a serious escalation of the war, which could occur in two to three weeks.

About this Danilov told in an interview with Sky News published Jan. 31.

Russia is preparing for the maximum escalation. This is a gathering of everything possible, training, exercises,” the NSDC Secretary said.

He did not rule out that Russia may try to arrange another attack from the north, south and east, as it happened on February 24, 2022. Perhaps it will even be timed to coincide with the anniversary of the invasion.

“We understand that everything is on the table … I can say that we do not rule out any scenario in the next two to three weeks“, Danilov said.

He also assured that the Ukrainian military is preparing for all possible scenarios and this time has much more support from Western partners, such as the UK, than 12 months ago.

“Those countries that help us in our struggle have begun to provide us with maximum assistance,” the official said.

According to him, about half of the more than 320 thousand mobilized soldiers will take part in the new large-scale Russian offensive.

Danilov announced that the main battles of the war were yet to come.

“We have gone through a long difficult period, but I am sure that the main fights are still ahead, and they will take place this year within two to three months. These will be defining months in the war,” the NSDC Secretary said.

Russia’s new offensive: what is known

Since December, the military-political command of Ukraine began to warn that Russia is preparing a new attack on Ukrainepossibly in February or March. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the offensive can be in any direction.
