WhatsApp Will Bring Two-step Verification to Desktop and Web

WhatsApp will increase user security on desktop and web. This messaging application is setting up a two-step verification feature for applications desktop and the web.

This new feature was discovered by WABetaInfo and is still under development. Previously, this two-step verification feature was only available on the WhatsApp app for Android and iOS.

“WhatsApp wants to make it easier to manage two-step verification anywhere, so they are working to introduce this feature in web/desktop clients in future updates,” wrote WABetaInfo, as quoted by detikINET, Monday (24/1/2022).

Just like the settings in the Android and iOS apps, two-step verification on WhatsApp Desktop and the web can be turned on or off according to user needs. Users can also change the PIN and change the email address.

Two-step verification is an important feature to keep your account safe WhatsApp from unwanted access. If this feature is enabled, when a user logs in to WhatsApp on a new phone they will be asked to enter a six-digit code sent to their phone number and a personal PIN to log into their account.

Currently if a user is logged in on WhatsApp Desktop or the web, they just need to scan a QR code and all chats, photos and videos will be instantly synced. The user does not need to enter a PIN to connect his WhatsApp account with the desktop or web application.

WhatsApp Currently also testing the multi-device feature, where users can access their accounts via the desktop or the web even when the phone is not active. Therefore, adding two-step verification on desktop and web will provide users with extra protection.

The two-step verification feature for WhatsApp Desktop and web is currently under development. It is not yet known when this feature will be rolled out for beta testers publicly.
