WhatsApp Web now also allows you to send photos that can only be viewed once

WhatsApp has released an update for its web application, which allows you to use two of the new features that have already been released for the mobile app: the option to view photos only once, and the new message archive.

2021 is important for WhatsApp, due to the amount of news it has launched, and plans to launch, throughout the year. The most important will be the possibility of using WhatsApp on several devices at the same time, although it will be somewhat limited by the impossibility of using WhatsApp on more than one phone.

Even so, it is to be expected that this function facilitates the use of WhatsApp on our computer, mobile and tablet. One way is with the WhatsApp web application, which is also receiving a lot of news to catch up with the mobile app.

The new function, advanced by WABetaInfo, is already reaching some users, and consists of sending photos and videos that can only be viewed once. It has arrived with version 2.2126.11 of WhatsApp Web, and we will recognize it by a new icon with a “1” in a half circle, indicating that we can put a limitation on the content we share in the chat.

If we activate this function, and send a photo, the person who receives it you can only see it once. Once you open the image, you can see it for as long as you want, but as soon as you close it, it will disappear from the chat and you will not be able to open it again.

WhatsApp presents this functionality as a privacy enhancement, as it will limit the ability to share our photos and videos; however, it is not perfect. WhatsApp itself warns that other people always they will be able to take screenshots from your device, and store it so you can see it whenever you want or worse, share it with whoever you want.

Therefore, we cannot take this role as perfect security, and we must always be cautious about what we share, and with whom we share it.

Accompanying this novelty, comes another very useful one: the new chats file. Conversations we keep on file now will no longer generate notifications, even if the other person sends us a new message. Therefore, if we no longer want to read a person, or follow a conversation that we have with several friends, but we also do not want to block or close it, we can simply archive it with the guarantee that it will not continue to bother us.

It is possible that we still do not have these functions, because we are still in version 2.2126.10 of the app; in that case, all we have to do is wait. As usual in WhatsApp, news does not arrive at the same time for everyone.
