WhatsApp User Trial Connects to Desktop Without Mobile : Okezone techno

JAKARTA WhatsApp is reportedly testing an update to its app. The update allows users to connect to a desktop or other device without a phone.

As is known, when using WhatsApp web version users have to turn on the app on the phone to stay connected. The good news was first uploaded by the Head of WhatsApp Will Cathcart on his Twitter account.

“Very excited to launch WhatsApp beta version of our new multi-device capability. Now you can use our desktop or web experience even when your phone is off and connected to the internet,” said Cathcart as quoted by MNC Portal Indonesia on Twitter, Thursday (15 /7/2021).

Cathcart added it had been working on the update for a long time. He also confirmed the update will remain secure and secured with end-to-end encryption.

In his blog post, Catchcart also briefly touched on the company’s work to maintain security across multiple devices, as reported by The Verge.

In a picture, he tried to compare the old and new systems. Previously, users’ phones managed the keys that determined their identity and their ability to encrypt/decrypt messages.

Later, encrypted synchronization also applies to message history, contact names, and other data, with the key retained on the individual device.

To get started, this beta trial version will be given to a limited group of testers who are already in the WhatsApp beta program. Meanwhile the team says it is working on improving performance and adding more features.
