WhatsApp recovers the Camera button that they had deleted

We talk about camera icon when attaching files. Until a few months ago, this button appeared in the section where we attached documents, photos from the gallery, audios, location or contacts. However, WhatsApp had the happy idea of removing that button to put the Rooms (Room in Spanish) instead, which is used to use Messenger Rooms with video calls on WhatsApp with dozens of people.

Now we have 7 buttons in the Attach section of WhatsApp

Although this served to enhance the use of Rooms within WhatsApp and to be able to communicate with people by video call with a simple link without having to have an account on WhatsApp or Facebook, it also made it more difficult to be able to send photos or videos quickly through WhatsApp.

Thus, for send an image via WhatsApp, it was necessary to have previously taken it from the Camera application, or, from the main page of the app, slide to the left side to quickly access the camera, take the photo or video, and then send it to the contacts we want.

Luckily, WhatsApp has recognized the error, and now in the latest beta version 2.20.198.9 of the app, the button is back. The company temporarily reintroduced it in a previous beta and later removed it, and now it seems that it has returned for good.

WhatsApp may introduce new redesigns in the future

Although the new menu is not as aesthetic as before, the reality is that at least now we can choose between the type of file we want to send. Looking ahead, WhatsApp may decide to redesign the section so that it is not mandatory to swipe down on some mobiles to see the contacts option, although this is perhaps one of the least used with respect to the others to send documents, open the camera or media file via gallery.

Not much is known about the arrival to the stable version of WhatsApp of this novelty, but it should not take too long because it is a minor change that does not imply major modifications at the app’s code level; mainly because it was a function that was already available before and that they took us away without notice. In addition, we maintain Rooms, which with the start of the school year surely there are many parents and children who will be forced to use it to follow the classes, although in this case the most used app for this is Zoom.
