WhatsApp lets users add new contacts via QR codes – IT Pro – News

It is impressive how slow new features are added to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger; mainly because they can simply copy what other developers are doing. Use WeChat yourself to keep in touch with Chinese ex-colleagues and how long has it been adding contacts via QR code? At least 5y? + being able to book movie tickets, a taxi, air travel, hotel, hospital visit, etc .; + being able to send money to contacts; + being able to scan QR codes to pay in shops, at the bakery, etc. ++

And I understand that there are reservations about whether you as a user want to give this information to Facebook (or Tencent, it doesn’t matter), but I don’t understand why the company itself does not want these functions. Is a total mystery to me.
