WhatsApp launches new features for voice messages

For this reason, WhatsApp released updates that solve some of the main needs of users. It will now be possible to pause the recording and resume where you left off if you had to leave the chat or create a draft to see if the message you are about to send is going to be understood or misheard.

The new features of voice messages in WhatsApp:

  • Playback outside of chat: Listen to voice messages outside of chat so you can multitask and read or reply to other messages.
  • Pause/Resume Recording: When you’re recording a voice message, you can now pause and resume the recording when you’re ready, in case you’re interrupted by something or need to collect your thoughts before sending that message.
  • Wave display: Shows a visual representation of the sound of the voice message to help you follow the recording.
  • Draft Preview: Listen to your voice messages before sending them.
  • Replay memory: If you pause when listening to a voice message, you can pick up where you left off when you return to chat.
  • Quick play on forwarded messages: You can play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speeds to listen to them faster, both in regular and forwarded messages.

Users will be able to test these new features as they are rolled out over the next few weeks.
