WhatsApp is still working on the message reaction feature, here are the leaks

TEMPO.CO, JakartaWhatsApp been working on a new feature of message reactions since a few months ago. Now, a report suggests that the app is still making improvements to this functionality as it plans to launch soon.

The app’s new feature tracker, WABetaInfo, reports that the message reaction feature will be available in individual chat threads as well as group chats. “Everyone can see who reacted to the message just by looking at the reaction info tab,” reads the WABetaInfo report, Sunday, November 28, 2021.

In the circulating screenshot, the reaction message can be seen and placed in two different tabs. The ‘All’ tab displays all available reactions, while the second tab displays the most recent emojis that can be used.

WABetaInfo notes that users will be able to react to certain messages once and reactions are limited to six emojis. Currently, the emojis available are ‘Like’, ‘Love’, ‘Laughing’, ‘Surprised’, ‘Sad’ and ‘Thank you’.

As of now, it’s not clear WhatsApp will bring any emojis available in reaction. Will it be like what Facebook is doing now as well as Instagram or more limited like the way Twitter is. As for the release date, WABetaInfo said that this feature is still in development and there is no clear release date for this feature yet.

Not only the message reaction feature, the platform has also discovered another feature that the messaging application made by Meta is preparing, namely the ability to play audio messages at different speeds. As of now, it’s only been possible for voicemail and not forwarded messages.

The audio message in question is a voice note that is forwarded via WhatsApp. “When you forward voice notes, it’s not possible to speed up the audio because the playback speed button is not available, but new features will come at a later date,” said WABetaInfo.
