Whatsapp is now offering the long-awaited “send a note to yourself” feature to all its users. The new feature is called “Send yourself a message.” You’ll find this innovation high above your contacts when you want to send a new message.
Purpose of the new feature
With “Send yourself a message” you can quickly create a note or reminder in Whatsapp. This allows them to better track their activities, send shopping lists to themselves or use Whatsapp as a sort of diary.
Now you can quickly jot down any thought just by texting yourself. You can also use it to bring together content from multiple devices, for example if you want to move a file from your PC to your smartphone.
This allows users to send themselves a message
- Stepping: Open WhatsApp
- Take a step: Create new chat
- Take a step: You will find your contact at the top of the list. It’s labeled “Send yourself a message”
- Take a step: Click on your number and start typing
How to get the new feature
This feature is available for Android and iOS and will roll out to all users in the coming weeks. However, the new feature was not yet available on our smartphone.
long development
The first indications of the new note function already appeared at the end of October 2022. Since around mid-November 2022, more and more WhatsApp beta testers have been able to try out this practical innovation.
Workaround: This is how it works so far
Before the introduction of this new function, it was or is quite cumbersome to send a message with Whatsapp. We present this workaround here: Use Whatsapp for notes – this is how it works. For comparison: Competitor messenger Signal has had its note function for a long time. You can read more about this in How it works: Use Signal for notes – easier than with Whatsapp.
