Reporter: What does the Mobra brand represent for Romanians?

Andrei Postelnicu: Mobra was everyone’s motorcycle for Romania during communism. There were maybe hundreds of thousands, millions, I could say, of kilometers, in total, with the Mobrele that were sold in the country, on family trips, on vacations, there were people who even left two on a motorcycle. four horsepower, with luggage and a tour of the country. So it was used as a means of transportation, it was used for holidays and at the same time, because it was not overly expensive at the time and could be maintained behind the block, it was also used for daily activities. There are people who have used them for years to work in the fields or to go from one place to another, to work. Even during this period, there is a gentleman we see almost every day, somewhere in the Pipera area, who probably goes to work on a Mobra, every day. The Mobra motorcycle was not a very high-performance motorcycle, it was a motorcycle that was intended to be for the people and that at least now represents a nostalgic brand, which brings back many memories.

Rep .: When do you think production could start?

AP: Our goal from the moment we announced that we want to do this is to have a Mobra product on the street in Romania in a maximum of two years-two and a half years.

Rep .: Have you already decided where the factory will be? Initially he was in Brasov.

AP: The factory is located in Brasov. The Mobra moped had the engine produced at Metrom Brasov, and the moped was assembled at the Tohan factory. I can’t give you an exact location now and the reason is simple, objective and business: when we have the motorcycle project, with everything necessary for the production of the motorcycle, at that moment we will know what is the need for space, people, investment for everything that means equipping a factory. The biggest fear at the moment is that it is difficult to find in Romania manufacturers of assemblies and subassemblies for motorcycles. We want very much and it is really objective in the business plan, to do the assembly in Romania and to produce as much as possible of the motorcycle in Romania. Of course, there will be components, like all major motorcycle manufacturers, that we will use from specialized suppliers, such as brakes. Almost no manufacturer brakes on its own.

Rep .: What will the new Mobra motorcycle look like, will it look like in the past or will it have a modern design?

AP: Coincidentally, there is a current of many years in motorcycling, of motorcycle models that, it’s a bit much said to bring Mobra, but which have something of the line of the old Mobra. Obviously, there will be an evolution, because we are living in 2015 and both from a technical point of view and from a design point of view, there must be an evolution, because motorcycle customers in Romania are approved and need a product quality. Mobra was not the best quality product of ours, of the Romanian industry, Mobra was a mass thing. The design will be current, but will keep lines, characters from the old motorcycle.
