It is set very ambitiously, also considering that the device is offered with a truncated version of Android due to American sanctions.

The tested model can afford the confident price thanks to its photographic equipment. According to the renowned DxOMark server, which focuses on evaluating the quality of cameras, this is the best photo car on the market.

The mentioned server awarded 136 flagpoints from Huawei’s flagship for the quality of the camera, so the current King Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (133 points) was deposed from the first to the second place after the arrival of this phone on the market.

It is not without interest that the third place belongs again to Huawei – specifically the P40 Pro model (132 points).

Four cameras on the back
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro has four lenses on the back, they are elegantly hidden in a black circle, including the flash. The well-known company Leica, which became famous mainly for the production of its own cameras, again took part in the development of the photographic system.

The telephoto lens, which boasts a five-fold optical zoom and a resolution of 12 MPx, attracts a lot of attention. In combination with digital zoom, it can zoom in on photographed subjects up to 50 times. The focal length is 12 mm and the aperture is f3.4.

However, the highest possible approach must be taken with a grain of salt. In practice, of course, you will come across the limits of this compact device, which, of course, cannot be measured with telephoto lenses for tens of thousands of crowns in digital SLR cameras.

Images are out of focus and blurred at 50x zoom, but still clearly visible. Theoretically, such a high approach can easily serve as a replacement for binoculars, if you want to enjoy the view during a hike.

In addition, if the digital part does not work, the images are beautifully sharp and full of color. At a five- to ten-fold zoom, the images are very successful, as can be seen in the sample moments below. By the way, when shooting at a greater distance, the optical stabilization of the OIS, which the telephoto lens is equipped with, helps a lot.

The remaining three lenses
Optical stabilization is also offered by the main 50-megapixel camera, which builds on a 1 / 1.28 inch sensor. By the way, the lens with a focus of 23 mm offers a very good aperture of f1.9 for the proportions of mobile devices, which in practice comes in handy, for example, when taking portraits or in low light conditions.

For the sake of completeness, let us add that the fourth lens on the back is not intended for shooting on its own, it is an auxiliary optics for laser focusing (AF). For the sake of completeness, let’s add that there is a double optics on the front, it is a combination of a 13Mpx selfie camera and a 3D sensor, which takes care of the safe unlocking of the device by means of face recognition technology.
