What is Microsoft messing with in relation to the Windows 11 system requirements? Now millions of machines are out in the cold

Only Intel 8th generation (Coffee Lake) and AMD Zen 2 and later can install Windows 11 as it is today. Also RPM 2.0 is a requirement, which has also been much discussed and created confusion.

Microsoft’s own expensive machine can not run Windows 11 today

This means that Suface Studio 2 (from $ 3500) is not supported, as this is a machine that uses Intel’s 7th generation chips and is therefore not supported. This means that Surface Pro 4 can not install either, as this machine from the winter of 2015 has the 6th generation Intel.

Surface Studio 2 is great and expensive, but not supported.

The company first wrote that devices with Intel 6. and AMD before Zen would not be supported, but later chose to remove the information.

This is not because Windows 11 is heavier to run

The Windows 11 kernel requires almost nothing to run, so this has nothing to do with performance but with security mechanisms such as Secure Boot and the aforementioned TPM 2.0.

Why Microsoft has announced system requirements that are guaranteed to expand is unknown, but in a statement that they will “test to identify devices that run Intel 7. or AMD Zen 1, and that may meet our principles.”

We are somewhat unsure of what this cryptic phrase means, but expect it to analyze these devices with Windows 11 installed to find that everything is working properly and that the support is in place before launch at the end of the year.
