The new generation of consoles has started in fits and starts. The companies are being able to place in the user’s home up to the last unit they sell. However, when the time comes, when the demand is covered and the shelves are filled with boxes that can be read PlayStation 5, the debate will go back to being the same one. Or, at least, the one that should always have been: what is the system with the games that interest me the most?

Sony knows, as does Microsoft, that it has to keep growing the catalog of PS5 with proposals that catch the player’s attention. Especially the less faithful. Those who, when the time comes, hesitate between buying their console or that of direct competition. In order to whet your appetite, the company has announced for today, at 10:00 p.m. in mainland Spain, a streaming event -through its YouTube and Twitch channels- in which it will share news about the major proposals currently under development. That they are not few.

In principle, it is to be expected that an important part of the event will be occupied by the two great exclusives that PlayStation has prepared for 2022. The first to hit stores, if the calendar is met, will be ‘Horizon: Forbidden West‘, the second part of the popular open-world franchise and dystopian and futuristic cut created by Guerrilla for the Japanese firm. Although Sony has already shown images of the title on several occasions, even a ‘gameplay’ of about 15 minutes, it is quite likely that it will use the space to show news. The work is expected to be available on February 18 and will have a version for PS4 and PS5.

It is also foreseeable that, during the event, the technology company will show images of what is probably the most interesting video game among all those known to have in development, the ‘God of War: Ragnarok’. The new adventure of Kratos and his son Atreus in Nordic lands it promises to mark a turning point in the saga. At the moment, Santa Monica, the studio in charge of the proposal, and Sony have only shown a logo of the video game. Taking into account that its launch is expected in 2022Hopefully, sooner rather than later, a trailer or at least some more information about the proposal will be shared.

From ‘Final Fantasy XVI‘, announced a year ago, we know a little more. The company has even shared images in which it is clear that the mythical role-playing franchise recovered the medieval setting that characterized it in the late eighties and early nineties. In principle, it will be a temporary exclusive to PlayStation 5.

It will also be exclusive, although in this case without restrictions, ‘Gran Turismo 7‘. The last exponent of Sony’s quintessential racing franchise will arrive, if nothing prevents it, in 2022. At the moment we have been able to see a trailer, and hopefully, sooner rather than later, something else will be offered. The title is scheduled for 2022 and will have a version for PS4 and PS5.

Surprises and multiplatforms

When the ‘gamer’ sits down to watch an event of this type, he always does it with the hope that the company on duty will leave him with his mouth open announcing a video game of which, until then, there was no knowledge. A few months ago, Sony itself stated that its studios are currently working on 25 exclusive video games. Among the most popular options, in case we find surprises during today’s presentation, highlights the possible announcement of a ‘remake’ of the mythical ‘Metal Gear Solid‘which would be borne by Bluepoint Games.

Obviously, it is to be hoped that the company will take advantage of the presentation to show new images and trailers of the titles that will arrive in the coming weeks on its consoles. Among them, heavyweights like ‘Deathloop‘-which could be the last title created by Bethesda for PlayStation after the company has become part of Microsoft-,’Call of Duty: Vanguard‘ O ‘Death Stranding: Director’s Cut‘.
